Historic Berwick Apartments Holds "Snazzy" Grand Opening
December 7, 2011 – Berwick Apartments, an $8 million historic preservation development serving senior residents, held its grand re-opening today in historic Cambridge, Ohio. Berwick Apartments recently received a Snazzy Award from the Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce. These awards are given to businesses that have made significant improvements to their facilities. The renovation of Berwick Apartments enhances the general appearance and visual appeal of the building, while maintaining its historic elements.
Originally constructed in 1890, Berwick Apartments has undergone a complete renovation, maintaining its historic charm while modernizing units with universal design features and energy efficient elements.
The financing of Berwick Apartments was provided by low-income housing tax credits administered by the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, federal and state historic tax credits, and HDAP (HOME) funds. The project also participated in the Rural Development MPR Program which allows for the restructuring of selected USDA Rural Development rental housing loans. Equity was provided by the Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing. Wallick-Hendy Development, LLC is the developer of Berwick and its affiliate, Wallick Properties Midwest, LLC, is the managing agent.
