OCCH Board Awards Nearly $180,000 in Resident Development Funds
February 7, 2012 – In late 2011, the OCCH board approved funding for 10 proposals in the amount of $178,954. A review committee consisting of internal and outside participants made recommendations to the board after reviewing 23 applications for $455,297.
The Carol Mount Peterson Resident Development Fund was created in 1997 and has awarded over 250 grants totaling over $4.5 million. The funding comes from OCCH's retained earnings and is used to support initiatives designed to help residents reach their social, economic and educational potential. These grants are awarded to nonprofit partners affiliated with a property in which OCCH has an equity investment.
The awards went to nonprofits throughout the state to provide after-school activities for students, career development programs for adults, computer opportunities for residents, and supportive services for residents with special needs. Additionally, funds went to an underground rainwater collection system to sustainably provide water for a community garden.
