OCCH Welcomes Myia Batie—Coordinator of Policy and Programs
Myia Batie joined the Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing (OCCH) in April 2016 as Coordinator of Policy and Programs. Prior to joining OCCH, Myia worked as the Program and Policy Manager in the Office of Planning, Preservation and Development at the Ohio Housing Finance Agency where she was responsible for planning and policy development across the multifamily housing development programs including the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program, Housing Development Assistance Programs, Housing Development Loan Program and Multifamily Bond Program. Prior to her role as Program and Policy Manager, Myia worked in the Office of Affordable Housing Research, also with the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, where she led strategic planning and performance measurement processes for the Agency. She holds a Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelor's Degree in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State University, and was a 2011 L. Douglas Wilder Graduate Fellow with the Virginia Housing Development Authority in partnership with the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs. Myia is a member of the American Planning Association and is certified as a Housing Development Finance Professional by the National Development Council. Welcome Myia!
OCCH Welcomes Stephanie May-Closing Attorney
Stephanie May joined Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing in April 2016 as a Closing Attorney in the Fund Management Department. In this role, Stephanie is responsible for leading and facilitating closing calls to finalize lower tier equity investment closings. As a Closing Attorney, Stephanie supports the Acquisitions, Fund Management and Asset Management departments by reviewing legal agreements as they relate to the due diligence process. Prior to joining OCCH full time, Stephanie served as a legal consultant for lower tier project closings since April 2015. Stephanie started her legal career as an anti-money laundering investigator for Huntington National Bank. She also has courtroom experience while working as an associate attorney at JMF Attorney at Law LLC. Stephanie received her undergraduate degree from Ohio University and her Juris Doctor, with the highest degree of pro bono honors from Charlotte School of Law. Stephanie is a licensed to practice law in the state of Ohio. Welcome Stephanie!
Hal Keller to Receive Homeport’s ‘Voice & Vision’ Award
For the past 35 years, Hal Keller has been a significant leader in affordable housing policy and practices, and a visionary and friend to those in the affordable housing industry. For this and much more, Hal will receive Homeport’s ‘Voice & Vision” award on October 13th, recognizing his exceptional commitment and personal dedication to the cause of affordable housing.
Homeport, based in Columbus, provides healthy, stable homes for all through community development and revitalization and resident supportive services and education. The second annual ‘Voice & Vision” award recognizes individuals who have a strong mission and profound impact in affordable housing.
Hal has been the president of OCCH since 1993 and under his leadership OCCH has raised more than $3.7 billion in equity investment, and developed three affiliate organizations: Ohio Capital Finance Corporation, a certified CFDI lending organization; Ohio Capital Impact Corporation, a philanthropic funding organization, and Community Properties of Ohio, a leading property management and supportive services organization.
