Home Ownership Development Toolbox

MARKET | SITE | CONSTRUCTION | FINANCING | PROJECT MANAGEMENT
The Homeownership Toolbox is intended to serve as a resource for developers from community-based non-profit organizations that produce for-sale housing either from new construction and/or rehabilitation in Ohio. These development organizations often have dual goals of producing affordable homeownership opportunities and contributing to the revitalization of targeted communities.
The Toolbox is based on the five key elements of the housing development process:
Market -- Who you seek to serve and determine their needs and demands |
Site -- Issues related to what exists and what can be built on a property |
Construction -- The product to be built and overall construction process |
Financing -- Project cost; sources of financing, subsidy and affordability issues |
Project Management -- Who is going to do the work |
Each section of the Toolbox is structured as follows:

All materials in this Toolbox are intended for the non-profit housing developer to copy and customize in an effort to help save time and improve project planning and efficiency. Please take all necessary steps to have other skilled professionals (such as: lawyers, accountants, lenders, funders, professional service providers and Board members) review any documents that you have modified and/or intend to you use in your community.
Please contact Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing with your thoughts on what you find works best and include any other documents that could be added to make the Homeownership Toolbox a vital resource for your organization's housing production program.
