How well does the candidate listen to you? Does the candidate have a clear sense of the role and responsibilities you want him/her to play?
Probe for evidence of skills and experience. A public commitment to low income housing does not always equate competence.
Check references from recent clients.
Ask
candidate for a writing sample that may include a work plan or progress report,
something that shows you how the candidate records information.
Is the candidate's judgment and communication style consistent with and/or complementary to yours?
Assess the priority the candidate will give to your project in relation to the rest of his/her workload.
How
does the candidate want to be paid (hourly, weekly)?
