Poindexter Village Receives a 2021 Novogradac Journal of Tax Credits Development of Distinction Award

July 2, 2021

(Columbus, Ohio) OCCH is pleased to congratulate both the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) and McCormack Baron Salazar who were recognized with a Novogradac Journal of Tax Credits Development of Distinction award for the redevelopment of Poindexter Village in Columbus, Ohio. These awards recognize affordable housing developers who provide quality, enhanced housing that benefit people in need.

OCCH invested $48 million into the redevelopment of Poindexter Village, one of Columbus’ first public housing projects located in the Near East Side. The five-phase mixed-income, multi-generational redevelopment plan builds on the neighborhood’s rich community history, strong partnerships, and strategies for education innovation, workforce and economic development, quality housing, and health initiatives to create a vibrant, healthy community of choice.

Leveraging a $29.7 million Choice Neighborhood Implementation Grant from the U.S Department of Housing and Development and millions in funding and programming from local partners, CMHA developed 450 new mixed-income units, many for low-income residents. These include Poindexter Place, 104 units of senior housing, Legacy Pointe at Poindexter, a 336-unit mixed-income family housing development, and 10 market-rate units in The Harris, a local historic building.
