Middlebury Commons

OCCH was pleased to invest $6.1 million into the development of Middlebury Commons in Akron, Ohio, designed with a focus on creating healthy opportunities for senior residents. This project was an Affordable Housing Finance 2020 Readers’ Choice Award winner for Best Senior Project!

Middlebury Commons is an affordable mixed-use three-story, new construction development built to Enterprise Green Standards and is part of a citywide effort to improve the health of residents in Akron, Ohio. The community includes 20 one‐bedroom garden/flat units and 20 two‐bedroom garden/flat units for households 55 and older with income of up to 30%, 50% and 60% of Area Median Household Income (AMHI).

Middlebury Commons also features first floor commercial space in an urban, walkable community. The property is designed to provide supportive services to residents, such as health promotion and wellness, light housekeeping, transportation and financial literacy and credit counseling.

Community amenities include an on-site management office, central laundry facilities, fitness center and community room, and an outdoor garden area.
