2018 Partner Celebration

May 1, 2018

(OCCH Annual Partnership Celebration to Feature Carol Naughton of Purpose Built Communities as Keynote Speaker)

The 2018 Annual Partnership Celebration will be held on Thursday, May 17 from 10:30am – 3:00pm at the Union Station Ballroom at Greater Columbus Convention Center, 400 N. High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

For the past 23 years, Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing has gathered corporate, institutional and community-based partners who have joined in making an impact on the growing need for affordable housing in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia.  With an all new format, the May 2018 celebration will continue this tradition, with added opportunities to deepen understanding, enliven dialogue, and inspire further action to build strong communities.  In a special video that will be unveiled as a part of the luncheon portion of the program, OCCH has attempted to capture how important partnerships have been to our work, while revealing the significance of affordable rental housing to households and families living, working, aging, raising children, and striving toward a better life.

The luncheon will also feature a keynote address from Carol M. Naughton, who serves as the President of Purpose Built Communities.  Established in 2009, Purpose Built Communities grew out of a nationally recognized effort in the 1990s to revitalize Atlanta’s East Lake neighborhood, an area long plagued by poverty, crime, rampant drug use and substandard schools. Led by developer and philanthropist Tom Cousins, the East Lake initiative brought together business, government and community leaders to transform the neighborhood using a holistic approach to community redevelopment.  Purpose Built Communities now takes that redevelopment model to other cities, such as New Orleans, Indianapolis, Omaha and Columbus, working with local leaders.
