Journey to Justice

June 1, 2020

To Our Valued Partners:

Like many of you have expressed, we are in pain.

When members of our community hurt, we all hurt and Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing (OCCH) and Community Properties of Ohio (CPO) stand with all who fight against racism, injustice, and inequality. In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

We have seen and been surrounded by injustice, violence, and pain in our nation and our local communities and we cannot be silent. We care deeply about our staff, residents, and communities. We are disappointed and angry that injustices prevail. We stand in solidarity with our colleagues, partners, residents and communities as we join together to work towards justice and equity.

As a nation, as a community, we must be better and do better. We can start at home with our families. We can be present with them and with our neighbors by listening to each other’s truths, and caring about our realities. We can speak up, show up, and stand up.

Now more than ever, we can connect with each other, speaking our truths and listening with an empathetic ear. While we may not easily be able to come together in person, we can call, video chat, text, and support each other during yet another extremely challenging time. This is a journey to healing, not where it stops, and we commit to take the next step and the next step and the next step with you.

We hear you. We see you. We are with you. Stay safe and stay strong!
