President’s Message

Welcome 2023!

I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday season and find yourself rested and ready for a new year! I am always excited this time of year when we can say goodbye to the previous year and HELLO to a brand new one. Before we close the books on 2022, I would like to express how proud I am of the hard work and accomplishments of our partners, our communities and my OCCH colleagues. While it was another challenging time for our industry both at the national and local levels, OCCH was able to partner with so many of you on closing over $447 million in equity. By choosing to work with OCCH, our partners are supporting our mission and communities. OCCH has continued to invest our profits into our communities to enhance education, provide summer camp opportunities for children, award scholarships and many more worthwhile projects that increase the quality of life at our developments. OCCH continues our advocacy at both the federal, state and local levels and for our residents!

While we have seen missed opportunities in Congress to restore and expand affordable housing production, we have to remain engaged and committed to our mission. We have seen our advocacy efforts resolve issues in the past and we need to stay the course in both DC and at the state level. I challenge each of us to educate others on the consequences of avoiding the growing problem of housing by increasing the resources needed at a time when so many factors are working against us. Rising interest rates, rising construction costs, lack of gap funding, and labor shortages to just name a few of the obvious.
